Located in Union City, California, Purple Lotus Buddhist School (PLBS) is one of the five private schools in the New Haven Unified School District and is the first G1-12 Buddhist School accredited in 2007 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Our Mission
In addition to achieving academic excellence through high expectations and rigorous programs, students will learn and practice enlightened living and thereby open their hearts and minds to develop the compassion, insight and skillful means to become responsible, benevolent, and confident individuals dedicated to aiding all beings in handling life’ challenges.

Our Beliefs
PLBS is a place where –

1. All persons can develop and ultimately possess compassion, loving kindness, joy and equanimity;
2. Ideas for improvement are sought and welcomed continually from all; Students and parents, teachers and staff, cooperate as team;
3. All persons learn how to develop both (1) inner harmony and strength of character and (2) the sublimation of self in order to diminish suffering for all sentient beings.

Our ESLRs
As part of the school’s accreditation process by the WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges), Purple Lotus Buddhist School developed the Expected School-wide Learning Results (ESLRs) and strives to achieve for its students.
